The CDL Delivery Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate delivery of lumber, building materials, and related products to customer job sites. This position plays a critical role in ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with all company, DOT, and safety regulations. Drivers serve as ambassadors of the company and are expected to maintain a professional appearance, communicate effectively with customers and coworkers, and operate all equipment safely and efficiently. In addition to delivery responsibilities, drivers assist with load building, material handling, yard organization, and equipment maintenance to support overall yard operations.

Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • CDL Class A or Class B license required for vehicles exceeding 26,000 GVW.
  • Air Brake Endorsement required.
  • Clean driving record with a demonstrated commitment to safe driving practices.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to drive a MANUAL transmission.
  • Ability to read maps, follow directions, and plan efficient delivery routes.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to routinely lift, carry, push, and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain, construction sites, and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit delivery vehicles and operate equipment repeatedly during shifts.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card) or ability to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of lumber, building materials, and construction site operations preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts and truck-mounted forklifts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport lumber, building materials, and other products to customer locations.
  • Plan and map delivery routes to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Maintain all required DOT and company documentation accurately and on time.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload materials while preventing damage to products, vehicles, and customer property.
  • Verify load accuracy before departure and upon delivery.
  • Obtain required signatures and documentation for deliveries, COD transactions, and returns.
  • Photograph deliveries and returns and upload images to the company POS system as required.
  • Pick up return materials from customer job sites and transport them safely back to the yard.
  • Safely operate delivery vehicles, forklifts, and truck-mounted forklifts.
  • Load and unload materials using proper procedures and equipment.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Keep all vehicles and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Assist with building and arranging delivery loads for maximum safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lumber yard and work environment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatchers, and management.
  • Resolve routine customer concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Support special projects and additional assignments as directed by the Yard Manager, Dispatcher, or Management Team.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer DOT drug screening.
  • Compliance with all DOT, OSHA, company safety policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.
