The route sales driver will be responsible for driving over established routes or territories to sell and deliver dairy products. This role involves maintaining existing accounts, building strong customer relationships, and distributing authorized products. The driver will also be responsible for the dairy case at their stops, ensuring proper stock rotation and acceptable product appearance. Significant customer contact is expected, requiring sales skills. The position also includes collecting money, making change, recording transactions, writing customer orders, and soliciting new business. The driver will perform duties that require climbing, crawling, and walking in various positions to load/unload product, stock shelves, set up displays, issue promotional materials, and collect returns. The role involves significant physical demands, including stacking and unstacking items weighing up to 50 pounds from a height of seven feet, and dragging stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds. The driver will work in extreme temperatures (over 100°F and below 32°F) and primarily outdoors in various weather conditions. The successful candidate must maintain the truck's interior, perform routine maintenance, and operate the vehicle safely and efficiently. Understanding and adherence to company policies, D.O.T. guidelines, and essential job functions are required. Being banned from a customer account may lead to immediate discharge.
