About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Front Load / Swing Garbage Truck Drivers. Safety is our top priority. This position involves operating front-loading trucks for the pick-up service of totters and/or containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Drivers will transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility and may make multiple trips per shift. Both manual and automatic trucks are deployed. The role requires the ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times per route. Routes may involve navigating congested communities and tight city areas, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers. Drivers are also responsible for climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts and performing pre and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work
  • Front Load Garbage Truck experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating front loading trucks for the pick-up service of totters and/or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transporting material to a disposal, transfer or recycling facility.
  • Making one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving and maneuvering up to 100 pounds.
  • Mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times every route.
  • Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Performing highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
  • Performing driver pre and post inspections.
  • Ensuring the truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
