CDL Class B Front Load Garbage Truck Driver
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking experienced CDL B Front Load Garbage Truck Drivers for steady, year-round work. IWS is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services, known for its commitment to safety and its ability to balance corporate standards with a family-style culture. This role involves the safe operation of front-loading trucks for waste and recyclable material pick-up, transporting materials to disposal or recycling facilities, and performing pre- and post-trip inspections. Drivers may navigate challenging urban environments and are expected to maintain compliance with all safety regulations.
Requirements
- 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
- Valid Class A or B CDL
- Airbrake Endorsement
- 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
- Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
- Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
- Ability to Speak & Read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports & records.
- Ability to read & understand a map.
- Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
- Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work.
- Front Load Experience in the Waste Services Industry Required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
- Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility, potentially making multiple trips per shift.
- Perform driver pre and post inspections to ensure truck compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
- Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
- Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
- Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
