About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a full-time CDL Class A Driver (LTL) to drive a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments. The position is based on a Monday–Friday schedule with a 7:30 AM start and work continuing until route completion. An estimated 10–15 hours of overtime are expected each week, paid at time and a half after 40 hours. The hourly pay range is $24.00–$30.75, based on experience and other relevant factors. The driver inspects and maintains equipment, completes required paperwork, handles freight and shipment documentation, and supports other drivers as needed. The role involves working with a range of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals. Candidates must be able to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission.
Possess or be able to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
Have good customer service and organizational skills.
Be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
Be able to pass a DOT physical.
Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Have full range of motion, with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, or walking.
Be able to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct a pre-trip inspection to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
Turn in the pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms.
Deliver palletized freight to customers in a timely manner and pick up freight from shippers.
Verify that all load-related documentation is complete and accurate.
Collect payment for shipments when necessary and return bills of lading to the office for billing.
Maintain certifications required by DOT and company safety policies.
Wash the exterior of the tractor and equipment daily.
Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pickup as needed.
