About The Position

Fessenden Hall, a wholesale distributor of building materials, is seeking a CDL Class A Driver for routes in the Lancaster, PA region and surrounding areas. This is an active, hands-on driving position that requires physical stamina and engagement throughout the workday. The role combines professional driving skills with customer service and physical labor, involving securing, transporting, and delivering specialty building materials to customers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with clean driving record and clean MVR
  • Must pass DOT physical and drug screening
  • Skilled at driving, backing, and parking large commercial vehicles in tight and congested spaces
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Experience with route planning, GPS navigation, and map reading
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
  • High level of composure and ability to handle stressful situations calmly
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and remain physically active throughout extended shifts
  • Physical stamina for loading, securing, and unloading materials multiple times per day
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions while remaining alert and focused
  • Mental focus and endurance during long driving shifts combined with manual labor

Responsibilities

  • Physically handle and carefully secure building materials (laminates, plywood, solid surfaces) onto the truck, ensuring safe transport.
  • Drive commercial vehicles to deliver materials from our warehouse to customer locations across the Lancaster, PA region and surrounding areas.
  • Work directly with customers at delivery sites, assisting with unloading and ensuring materials arrive in perfect condition.
  • Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections, verify cargo is properly secured, and maintain accurate logs of vehicle repair status and working hours.
  • Follow all safety procedures for cargo transport, adhere to traffic laws, and maintain compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Plan daily routes efficiently using GPS navigation and mapping tools; adapt to traffic and delivery conditions in real time.
