About The Position

Primarily responsible for local deliveries and occasionally overnight deliveries of finished steel coils. This role involves inspecting loads, maintaining safe vehicle operation, and completing necessary documentation. The driver will also be responsible for pulling their own material and equipment when warehouse personnel are unavailable and performing all duties in conformance with safety and security standards. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL license with a minimum of 3-years CDL experience.
  • Must meet all DOT requirements.
  • Must be able to drive a semi-truck with up to four 10,000 lb. steel coils and deliver to customers.
  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
  • 3 years of relevant experience, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Flatbed and 48' and 53' trailer experience required.
  • Must have good driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to pass background (including MVR) and drug test.
  • Ability to write and read routine reports or job orders.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees within the organization.
  • Ability to speak, read and hear English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to interpret documents and instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
  • Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp and lift and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Steel hauling and delivery experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers items by identifying destinations, establishing route, and maintaining scheduled guidelines.
  • Inspects load prior to departure to ensure all cargo is secured in the truck or trailer for safe and efficient travel.
  • Maintains safe operation of vehicle through safe driving practices.
  • Maintains delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments, recording tracking information, and completing driver log and truck performance forms.
  • Pulls own material and equipment for deliveries when warehouse personnel are not available to help.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
