About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery, a family-owned company established in 1978, is seeking a CDL Class A Driver for pick-up duties in St. Cloud, MN. The company specializes in standard, next-day ground delivery and has expanded throughout the Midwest, employing over 1,800 people. The CDL Class A Driver (Pick-Up) is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck to transport parcels along an established route. This role involves ensuring the vehicle is in good working order, managing freight documentation, and adhering to all DOT and company safety policies. The position offers overtime and a shift differential.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
  • Must possess good customer service and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
  • Ability to work with all types of freight, including hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to transport parcels on an established route.
  • Conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order.
  • Turning in pre-trip forms and completing mileage and maintenance forms.
  • Driving to shippers and loading freight onto the trailer.
  • Transferring freight back to the terminal for unloading.
  • Verifying all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintaining all required certifications mandated by DOT and company safety policies.
  • Washing the exterior of the tractor and equipment daily.
  • Assisting other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick-up as needed.
