About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery, a family-owned company established in 1978, is seeking a CDL Class A Driver for Less Than Truckload (LTL) operations in Milwaukee, WI. The company specializes in standard, next-day ground delivery and has expanded throughout the Midwest. The driver will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and large shipments. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified CDL Class A drivers.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
  • Must possess good customer service and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a pre-trip inspection before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order.
  • Turn in pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms.
  • Deliver palletized freight in a timely manner to customers and pick up freight from shippers.
  • Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Collect payment for shipments as necessary and return bill of ladings to the office for billing purposes.
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and company safety policies.
  • Wash the exterior of tractor and equipment daily.
  • Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick up as needed.
