About The Position

The Hopelink CDL Bus Driver (Trailhead) provides safe, courteous, and on-time transportation to customers in vans, minibuses, or small buses, adhering to traffic regulations and maintaining schedules/routes. The driver communicates respectfully while providing excellent customer service to passengers. Hopelink is the largest nonprofit in North and East King County, serving homeless and low-income families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities for over 50 years. Our programs focus on food, financial assistance, transportation/mobility, housing & family development, and adult education & employment, aiming to help people achieve stability and exit poverty.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsement
  • Must have valid DOT Medical Examination Certificate
  • Must be available for all weekend and holiday shifts during the season
  • Must have an acceptable driving record
  • Must undergo a full criminal background check
  • Must pass a pre-employment Federal DOT drug screening
  • Must be subject to random screenings, which include THC among other restricted substances.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, courteous, and on-time transportation to customers in vans, minibuses or small buses; adhere to traffic regulations.
  • Communicate and interact with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities; communicate with dispatchers by radio and provide verbal and written reports.
  • Assist and secure passengers; provide special assistance as needed, such as opening doors, operating wheelchair lift, escorting to buildings and the like.
  • Maintain schedules on regular or special routes; collect fares, issue transfers; provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedule and transfer points; determine safest and most efficient routes to specific address.
  • Inspect vehicle before and after operation; clean vehicle interior and exterior as needed; fuel and perform minor maintenance on vehicle.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance in order to provide dependable service to the public.
  • Report to the worksite during your scheduled hours, regardless of weather conditions or other emergencies.
  • Manage your own transportation needs in adverse weather, including possible limitations to public transportation options.
  • Have a specific plan to address any other possible attendance barriers that arise during adverse weather and other emergencies, such as disrupted utilities or public services, road closures, school closures, etc.
