About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking CDL B Side Load Truck Drivers. Safety is our top priority. This position involves operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up of waste or recyclable material, transporting it to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. Drivers may make multiple trips per shift. The company utilizes both manual and automatic trucks. This role requires the ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times per route. Routes may involve navigating congested communities and tight city areas, requiring skilled backing maneuvers. Drivers also routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service accounts. Pre and post-trip inspections are mandatory, ensuring the truck complies with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.

Requirements

21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
Valid Class A or B CDL
Airbrake Endorsement
1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
Read & Understand a Map
Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work
Side Truck Driving experience in the Waste Industry is a Requirement

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
Transporting material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility.
Making one or more trips throughout the shift.
Repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving and maneuvering up to 100 pounds.
Mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times every route.
Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
Performing highly skilled backing maneuvers.
Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
Performing driver pre and post inspections.
Ensuring the truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
