About The Position

This role is ideal for truckers who prefer a Monday-Friday work schedule, are home daily, and have weekends off. The CDL B Driver with Hazmat/Tanker Endorsement is responsible for safely transporting and delivering explosive supplies (hazardous materials) to company job sites. This includes recording deliveries and pickups on a load manifest, obtaining necessary signatures, performing pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, and maintaining a professional appearance. Daily activities involve loading/unloading, driving, and paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Class B CDL license with Haz-mat Endorsement.
  • Tanker Endorsement.
  • DOT medical fitness card.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Successful class B commercial driving experience (trainees considered if they hold the appropriate license and have an acceptable MVR).
  • Ability to pass a background investigation including ATF.
  • Solid understanding of Federal DOT/State regulations as it relates to hazardous material transportation, trucking, and interstate commerce.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to lift 50 - 80 lbs.
  • Work in outside environment in all weather conditions.
  • Work on uneven and loose surfaces.
  • Stooping and bending 30 - 40% of the time.
  • Out of town and overtime may be required occasionally based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and timely transport explosives supply using Class B vehicles (may periodically utilize Class C vehicles).
  • Maintain accurate load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
  • Receive product at magazine sites and properly store it in inventory.
  • Load product from magazine to appropriate distribution vehicle.
  • Unload product to the appropriate ground crew at the job site.
  • Ensure all loads and materials are properly secured.
  • Ensure all DOT safety rules and regulations are met, including accurate log-book and daily safety check information documentation.
  • Ensure all state and local traffic laws and regulations are followed.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and maintain recommended maintenance schedules.
  • Effectively communicate work status to supervisor/dispatcher and cooperate to maximize truck time utilization.
  • Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Promptly report all vehicle incidents/accidents and traffic violations.
  • Submit to Federal DOT required drug and alcohol testing.
  • Be flexible to start the day at any time based on a pre-determined job schedule (notice provided by 5 pm the prior day).
  • Demonstrate self-starter ability, work independently, under pressure to meet deadlines, and show adaptability with changing priorities.
  • Attend field operations meetings and training as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
