About The Position

The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY is hiring a CDL A Truck Driver for local routes, offering home daily work, $30 an hour, and great benefits. This full-time position involves consistent routes within Ulster, Orange, Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam, and Sullivan Counties, with rare weekend work. The role is responsible for picking up donations from food donors, assisting with food collection, storage, and distribution operations of the Food Bank. The driver will operate company vehicles safely, inspect equipment, follow safety standards, and maintain accurate records. This job is not eligible for a work from home option.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Possess a valid New York State CDL Class A driver's license
  • Two years of truck driving experience
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests, or meet an exception, as required under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety requirements.
  • Must be able to regularly drive or operate a standard transmission vehicle.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain power equipment certification.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating power equipment in a warehouse setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Picks up and delivers food donations, product, and other materials when necessary.
  • Drives and operates all company vehicles in a safe manner and follows all traffic laws.
  • Inspects all power equipment prior to use.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Keeps commercial driver's license and Department of Transportation Medical Card up to date.
  • Assists in the proper handling and storage of product.
  • Loads and unloads cargo, and verifies loads are accurate.
  • Maintains accurate receiving inventory records of donated products.
  • Completes trip reports and ELD daily.
  • Maintains truck in good operating and physical condition - refuels, add fluids, cleans vehicles inside and out daily.
  • Completes pre and post trip inspections daily - reports issues to Manager. Director.
  • Maintains positive representation of the Food Bank with agencies, donors, and outside contacts.
  • Assists with food distribution operations.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks on a rotating basis within the department.
  • Works weekends as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
