About The Position

Thompson & Johnson Equipment is seeking a CDL A Truck Driver to join their Syracuse team. This local driving position offers consistent hours and the opportunity to be home every night. The driver will be responsible for safely loading, securing, and transporting equipment to customer job sites, operating trucks and trailers in compliance with DOT regulations, and performing pre- and post-trip inspections. The role also involves assisting with equipment unloading and placement, providing basic operational instructions to customers, completing delivery paperwork and logs, and maintaining the truck and equipment.

Requirements

• Valid CDL A license with HAZMAT endorsement
• Clean driving record acceptable to company and insurance carrier
• Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to complete required paperwork and logs accurately
• High school diploma or equivalent
• DOT physical (required for CDL drivers)
• DOT drug screening (in accordance with federal regulations)

Responsibilities

• Load, secure, and transport equipment to and from customer job sites
• Operate trucks and trailers safely while complying with all DOT regulations
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections (fuel, brakes, lights, tires, etc.)
• Deliver equipment to customers and assist with unloading and placement
• Provide basic instruction on safe equipment operation when needed
• Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams
• Complete delivery paperwork, logs, and inspection reports
• Maintain a clean and well-functioning truck and equipment
