About The Position

Universal Dedicated of Detroit is seeking reliable CDL-A drivers for local shuttle routes based in Detroit, MI. This is a great opportunity to join a union position with steady freight, consistent schedules, and daily home time. The position involves light touch freight, where drivers are responsible for chaining or strapping up loads, and completing 2-3 runs per day between the terminal and customer locations. The work is stable and year-round, with overtime after 40 hours. This is a union position with Teamsters Local 299, and offers seniority-based route bidding every 6 months.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Clean driving record with strong safety history
• Ability to meet DOT requirements
• Strong communication and time management skills

Nice To Haves

• T2T (Train-to-Train) program required for recent graduates (experienced drivers may be exempt based on prior experience)

Responsibilities

• Safely transport materials between terminal and customer locations
• Follow delivery schedules based on customer production needs
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Maintain DOT compliance at all times
• Communicate with dispatch and operations teams
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment
