About The Position
Universal Logistics is expanding in the Ankeny, IA area and is looking for quality local switcher drivers for home daily positions. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company with steady work and great pay. The position is very active as drivers will be getting in and out of the trucks all day to open and close doors when backing in and out of dock doors.
Requirements
- Class A CDL
- No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
- 3 months verifiable tractor trailer experience OR Recent Trucking School Certification
Responsibilities
- Moving 53ft Dry Van trailers in and out of docks
- Performing approximately 24-35 moves per shift in a small yard
- Potentially moving trailers to and from separate yards
- Complying with all company & client safety regulations
- Assisting OTR drivers
- Checking trailer numbers and seals against paperwork when moving between yards
- Inspecting trailers prior to moving them for DOT cert and general safety concerns
- Reporting issues upward to Leads and security
