Railcar Services VLS Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division provides specialty cleaning services for difficult-to-clean products, including chemicals, hardened materials, and pressurized gases, and comprehensive repair services for certified full-service repairs, tank car qualifications, and maintenance. Marine Services VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products.
Requirements
- Current Class A driver's license with hazardous materials and tanker endorsements.
- Clean DMV driving record
- 2 years commercial driving experience including the completion of driver logs.
- Working knowledge of DMV and DOT regulations pertaining to hazardous waste transportation.
- Capability to crawl, stand, bend, stoop, kneel and reach.
- Ability to wear a respirator and protective clothing.
- Being able to sit and drive for long periods of time.
- Capacity to lift 50 pounds several times a day.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years' experience driving/operating semi tractors, tankers and box vans is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste to designated disposal, treatment, and recycling facilities.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
- Complete and maintain all required DOT documentation, including logs, manifests, inspections, and transportation records.
- Operate and maintain Electronic Logging Devices (ELD's) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all shipping papers, manifests, and other required documentation are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
- Follow all safety procedures related to the handling and transportation of waste materials.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and facility personnel regarding pickups, deliveries, and any transportation issues
