About The Position

Brink Constructors, Inc. is an electrical contractor with over 75 years of experience in high-voltage transmission line and substation erection. The CDL A Hot Shot Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, tools, equipment, and construction-related supplies to project sites. This role operates medium-duty commercial vehicles and trailers in support of field operations, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with all applicable DOT regulations and company policies. The CDL A Hot Shot Driver supports construction crews by maintaining vehicle readiness, conducting inspections, and assisting with loading and unloading activities across multiple job locations. This is a non-exempt hourly role with a pay range of $30 - $35 per hour. The position will be based in Rapid City, SD and travel across the mid-west as needed, with up to 100% travel required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid, unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Knowledge of load securement requirements and DOT compliance standards
  • Ability to safely operate pickup trucks, gooseneck trailers, flatbed trailers, and related equipment
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%) based on project requirements
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company standards

Responsibilities

  • Operate CDL-required hot shot trucks and trailers in a safe, professional, and compliant manner
  • Transport tools, equipment, materials, and supplies to active construction projects and operational facilities
  • Secure loads utilizing approved tie-down methods and inspection procedures
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and cargo
  • Verify load manifests, delivery tickets, and other transportation documentation for accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal DOT regulations, state laws, and company policies
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, inspection reports, and delivery documentation
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment as needed
  • Communicate status updates, delays, and delivery issues to dispatch, project teams, and supervisors
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, cleanliness checks, and routine servicing activities
  • Support field operations by delivering critical materials and equipment in a timely manner
  • Respond to changing project priorities and delivery schedules as business needs require
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, site-specific requirements, and transportation procedures
