About The Position

Omaha Track is seeking a skilled and safety-minded CDL A Grapple Truck Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for operating a grapple truck equipped with a rear-mounted log loader/knuckle boom to load, unload, transport, and remove railroad ties, wood products, and debris. The operator will also haul mulch loads to mills as needed while ensuring safe and efficient operations in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Hands-on experience operating a knuckle boom, log loader, grapple, Sennebogen, or similar heavy equipment required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate a chainsaw.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in random drug testing.
  • Must be able to pass a railroad background check to obtain and maintain the credentials to work on railroad property (i.e. no criminal convictions within the last seven years, must not have completed a jail sentence or probation within the last five years)

Nice To Haves

  • Railroad industry experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a grapple truck equipped with a knuckle boom, log loader, grapple, Sennebogen, or similar material handling equipment.
  • Pick up and transport railroad ties, wood products, and other materials.
  • Load trucks and unload railcars safely and efficiently.
  • Haul mulch loads to mills as needed.
  • Remove debris from customer sites using the grapple boom.
  • Safely operate a chainsaw when required.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance, including greasing, lubrication, and minor repairs such as replacing hydraulic hoses.
  • Complete daily inspection reports, logs, and other required paperwork accurately.
  • Utilize a smartphone, GPS, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) for daily operations.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.
  • Work overtime and occasional weekends as business needs require.
