About The Position

Provide timely delivery of product to our customers. Represent ThyssenKrupp Materials, NA in a positive manner by providing customers with quick, precise, helpful, courteous and professional delivery service. Ensure truck is in proper working order. Perform various duties as required.

Requirements

  • No less than 5 years Class A Commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (no major violations or preventable accidents in the past 3-5 years).
  • A verifiable and consistent employment history demonstrating reliability and commitment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent, verifiable experience operating both flatbed and Conestoga trailers, with a proven ability to secure diverse and challenging loads.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and verifiable experience operating a Manitou or similar rough terrain forklift in demanding environments, preferably on construction sites. Certification or demonstrable training required.
  • Prior experience delivering to and operating within active commercial construction sites, understanding site logistics, safety procedures, and coordination.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of FMCSA cargo securement regulations for various types of freight, specifically demonstrating ability for irregular or delicate components. Ability to secure loads without the need for tarping.
  • Ability and willingness to physically assist in the unloading process at customer sites, which may involve manual labor or guiding equipment.
  • A strong willingness and ability to adjust to variable work schedules, including early starts, extended hours, and potential weekend shifts, as dictated by construction project demands.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Ability to frequently climb in and out of a truck, and onto/off a flatbed trailer.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50-75 lbs frequently, as part of assisting with unloading.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as required for load securement and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions common on construction sites (hot, cold, rain, snow).
  • Capable of navigating uneven, unpaved, and potentially hazardous terrain at construction sites.
  • This position has been identified as “safety sensitive” by thyssenkrupp under applicable laws. Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, including flatbed and Conestoga trailers, for the dedicated transport of a wide range of elevator components (e.g., rails, cars, doors, motors, counterweights, control panels).
  • Expertly secure various shapes and sizes of elevator parts using appropriate techniques (straps, chains, dunnage), ensuring integrity and preventing damage during transit, particularly for delicate or high-value equipment. Tarping is generally not required for these loads.
  • Navigate and access diverse and often challenging construction sites, which may include unpaved roads, tight turns, limited maneuvering space, and varying terrain (e.g., mud, gravel, inclines).
  • Coordinate precise drop-off locations with site superintendents or receiving personnel, ensuring efficient and safe unloading.
  • Actively assist in the safe unloading of materials at customer sites as needed, using appropriate equipment (Manitou) and/or manual assistance.
  • Adhere strictly to all site-specific safety rules, PPE requirements, and access protocols (e.g., sign-ins, safety briefings).
  • Safely and proficiently operate a Manitou (or similar rough terrain forklift) for the loading and unloading of heavy, bulky, or irregularly shaped elevator components at both warehouse facilities and active construction sites.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and loads, identifying and reporting any deficiencies to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and complete all required delivery paperwork, including bills of lading, proof of delivery, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, project managers, and on-site contacts regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
  • Operate in full compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Adapt to fluctuating delivery schedules driven by construction project timelines, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight runs.
