This entry-level regional truck driving role serves the Great Lakes area, with drivers staying close to home and returning home every weekend. Freight includes plenty of drop-and-hook work, along with some live loads and unloads. Dispatches may be during the day or at night, and drivers should expect Michigan winter conditions and changing routes. New drivers receive 4 to 6 weeks of mentoring in backing, trip planning, logs, and fueling before being assigned their own truck. Training pay is $900 per week. After training, pay is guaranteed at $1,000 per week for the first 3 months solo. The posting also lists average weekly gross pay of $1,100 to $1,500, starting mileage pay of $0.56 per mile, $15 for each extra stop, and typical weekly mileage of 1,500 to 2,000 miles. The hiring process begins with a recruiter phone call to review the applicant’s license and driving record. Orientation lasts no more than 2 days; the hotel is covered, the bus ticket is reimbursed, and a $300 payment is provided once hired. Benefits begin on day 31.
