About The Position

The CDL-A Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely operation of company vehicles in the execution of residential, commercial, and specialized moving and storage services. This role ensures the proper handling, loading, transport, and delivery of household goods, office equipment, and specialty items while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. The CDL-A Driver also provides exceptional customer service, oversees crew members during moves, and contributes to a safe and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willing to train(restrictions apply)
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and overnight travel as required.
  • High mental alertness and physical stamina.
  • Constant diligence for extended periods (generally 6- to 12-hour days).
  • Strong physical ability and agile physical coordination (lifting, twisting, and carrying heavy furniture/objects in awkward situations– including staircases, long carry, etc.).
  • Capable of repetitively lifting up to 80-100lb. items (we use the loaded dish barrels as a guide), unassisted, and 100lbs.assisted, over a workday of 10 to 12 hours.
  • Able to climb repetitively throughout the workday in and out of commercial vehicles and trailers- four (4) feet dock level, up/down truck ramps.
  • Lifting and carrying furniture up and down staircases, including “long carry” from house to truck, and working outside under inclement weather conditions.
  • Extremely good “safe working” habits.
  • Meet Van-line and FMCSA Safety Regulations, continuously subject to background checks, MVR reporting, and Alcohol/Drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the moving and storage industry.
  • Experience supervising crews in a logistics or moving environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and electronic logging devices (ELD)

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, straight trucks, and other assigned equipment.
  • Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, and company driving regulations, including hours of service and vehicle inspections.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs, trip sheets, and delivery documentation.
  • Plan efficient routes to job sites and customer locations, adjusting for traffic, weather, and unforeseen delays.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during moves, ensuring professionalism, courtesy, and effective problem-solving.
  • Conduct pre- and post-move walkthroughs with customers to verify the services provided and document any exceptions.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and communicate issues to supervisors when necessary.
  • Direct and train crew members on safe and efficient moving practices.
  • Monitor crew performance and promote teamwork to ensure timely job completion.
  • Uphold company safety standards and enforce compliance among all crew members
