Railcar Services VLS Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division provides specialty cleaning services for difficult-to-clean products, including chemicals, hardened materials, and pressurized gases, and comprehensive repair services for certified full-service repairs, tank car qualifications, and maintenance. Marine Services VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products. The CDL A Driver with Tanker & Hazmat endorsements is responsible for safely operating all types of company owned commercial motor vehicles. This position adheres to company policies & procedures, governing regulatory requirements, & provides excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must pass pre-employment criteria
  • Valid Class A CDL w/ HazMat & Tanker Endorsements
  • Satisfactory driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC clearance
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical & drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a background check for access to Federal Facilities

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensures maximum efficiency in achieving or exceeding established goals
  • Operate various equipment with a GVW >26,001 lbs. (including but not limited to van trailers, tank trailers, & straight trucks)
  • Performs complete pre- and post-trip inspections including, but not limited to checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, spill kit, gauges, & controls
  • Maneuvers commercial truck safely in congested city, highway, & client job sites
  • Complies with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, load securement, parking, & break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Communicates with & receives direction from office personnel dispatching loads
  • Completes all required daily paperwork & vehicle inspection reports while complying with all local, state, & federal regulations
  • Maintain up to date training & education for licenses, permits & regulatory information specific to job responsibilities
  • Documents & logs work / rest periods and miles spent driving
  • Demonstrates safety conscious behaviors & attends training / safety meetings
  • Assists with the cleaning of company facilities, equipment, & general housekeeping
  • After training competency has been verified, assists with training drivers
  • Reports defects, accidents, or violations & performs other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to complete shipping documents accurately & legibly in accordance with all state / federal regulations
  • This is primarily a long-haul tanker position. Will be performing water transportation 4 days per week; estimate 10-12 hour days.
