About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking professional truck drivers for a short-haul position based in Greenfield, IN. This role offers a great work-life balance with competitive compensation, including earning potential up to $80,000+ annually plus PTO. Drivers will operate late model Freightliner tractors pulling 53’ reefer trailers, with all routes operating within a 300-mile radius of Greenfield, IN. The position emphasizes safe driving, customer service, and effective decision-making. Drivers will be home daily with a consistent schedule of a minimum of 5 days per week, with options for a 6th day if eligible. The role involves transporting loads, performing inspections, and maintaining accurate logs. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • 1-year CDL Class A driving tractor trailer or reefer experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs daily.
  • Transport loads according to dispatch instructions, ensuring proper load security and biosecurity compliance.
  • Maintain accurate Hours of Service (HOS) logs via ELD or paper logs when required.
  • Report all accidents, citations, and equipment defects promptly.
  • Participate in scheduled driver safety meetings and required training programs.
  • Keep assigned truck clean and report maintenance needs.
  • Perform additional duties under weekly guarantee, including trailer washouts, fueling, spotting, weighing, and reporting maintenance issues.
