About The Position

SYGMA IL is seeking Delivery Drivers to join their team. This role offers stability and a career with competitive pay, with average yearly earnings between $100,000 and $105,000, and top earners making up to $150,000 per year. The company emphasizes teamwork, internal talent development, and provides paid training. The compensation structure is based on Route Pay plus Bonuses. Drivers will operate highly maintained, automatic tractor-trailers, running 2-4 routes per week. The position involves evening dispatch with overnight delivery, operating Sunday through Friday.

Requirements

Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred.
Completion of a tractor trailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to a high school diploma.
Knowledge of DOT regulations; Hazmat guidelines; Safe lifting and delivery practices.
Skill in driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating with customers; solving problems; delivering product.
Ability to drive a tractor-trailer unit both in the day and at night in a variety of traffic and weather conditions and remain alert and aware of surroundings.
Ability to meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
Ability to handle hazardous materials and food and restaurant items that are frozen, dry and refrigerated.
Ability to operate a 3 axle tractor, 45' - 48' trailer, straight truck, on board computer, key pad and a 2 wheel hand cart.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
Ability to perform basic math functions (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision.
Ability to solve problems.

Nice To Haves

1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely transport product from the warehouse to the customer location and ensure product is delivered on a timely basis, according to assigned route.
Unload product from trailer, by hand or using hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards.
Pick up, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns, and transport products back to SYGMA warehouse.
Ensure all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines, including DOT logs, inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, pre and post-trip reports, and promptly reporting damages and shortages.
Ensure all food safety protocols are met, including maintaining proper temperatures in the delivery vehicle, inspecting product for visible damages, and delivering and storing product to prevent cross-contamination. Maintain sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer.
Follow preferred work methods at all times and immediately advise the management team of any unsafe conditions.
Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, including hand cart, pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment.
Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
Communicate with the management team regarding any deviations to route, trailer or loading issues and/or customer or product issues.
Safely transport product picked up via backhauls and line hauls and ensure picked up product is correct and is delivered on a timely basis, according to established company standards.
Work assigned schedule and outside usual work schedule as needed to meet customer needs; exhibit regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
