The CDI Consultant applies clinical documentation and coding expertise to audit inpatient medical records and claims, ensuring accurate coding, appropriate reimbursement, and compliance with established guidelines. The role validates ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes, MS/APR-DRG assignments, discharge statuses, physician query compliance, and adherence to facility workflows. Through detailed review of clinical documentation and supporting information, the CDI Consultant evaluates the clinical validity of reported diagnoses and procedures, identifies documentation gaps, and develops concise, compliant physician queries. The consultant collaborates with Enjoin physicians to review potential DRG recommendations and query opportunities before submitting findings to clients, and prepares clear, evidence-based rationales supported by ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic guidance. As part of the Advisory team, this fully remote role requires strong clinical judgment, analytical skills, and communication, along with the ability to manage engagement deadlines, maintain accurate workpapers, and meet established quality and productivity expectations.
