About The Position

This internship focuses on assisting staff with permanency planning efforts for children and families working towards adoption or subsidized guardianship. The intern will support Child Welfare Specialists and Permanency staff by identifying barriers to permanency and connecting families with community resources and supportive services. Key activities include participating in team meetings, case staffings, and supervision, as well as assisting with the compilation and organization of documentation related to permanency efforts and supporting workers in preparing adoption or guardianship planning documents. The role also involves collaborating with various stakeholders such as schools, healthcare providers, parents, and community agencies to achieve positive permanency outcomes for children. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all organizational, DCFS, and agency policies and procedures are essential. The intern is expected to interact professionally and respectfully with families, staff, and community providers.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriately.
  • Interest in working with children and families in a supportive setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and documentation systems preferred.
