About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a CBTC Project Manager. The expectation for this role is for the selected candidate to be in the client's office at Broadway, New York, NY.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transit and rail experience, and infrastructure design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in the delivery and design of large-scale projects metro and rail projects involving signal systems and train control work: Including at least three projects with a construction value greater than $100,000,000.
  • Experience in CBTC technology: Minimum of 8 years of CBTC Project experience.
  • Experience coordinating the design and construction of track, signal, and communications, structural and power disciplines, and an understanding of developing a design which will allow NYCT to minimize operating impacts during construction.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Define scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and executing project assignments for CBTC signaling system.
  • Provide advice and guidance within rail systems on systems engineering and systems integration.
  • Apply advanced engineering methods, techniques, and analyses to provide CBTC-related technical solutions.
  • Develop technical designs, plans and functional/performance requirements, specifications, interfaces, test procedures and other documentation for Signal, CBTC and other Advanced Train Control Systems based on client needs and requirements.
  • Support CBTC system implementation schedules and cost estimates.
  • Review technical designs and submittals to assess against quality metrics and compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Prepare plans and procedures for the transition of the client's operations, maintenance and control center functions from the existing train control system to CBTC.
  • Identify and communicate industry best practices, and trends through presentations and white papers.
  • Identify and assess technical risks and propose mitigations.
  • Has working knowledge of related industry systems engineering standards, processes and best practices.
  • Support client in developing strategies for procurement, design, implementation, systems integration and long-term maintenance of signal, train control and rail systems.
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to apply proven industry standards such the IEEE 1474 and/or CENELEC.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
