About The Position

Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and Building Principal, the CBRS Specialist provides Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. This role focuses on helping students build functional skills, reduce the impact of behavioral challenges, and succeed within the school setting through direct intervention, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation (including Medicaid billing).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, education, human services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 21 semester credit hours in human service fields (e.g., psychology, social work, special education, counseling, or psychosocial rehabilitation).
  • Active USPRA (United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association) certification, or commitment to obtain certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement individual student interventions and behavioral strategies effectively.
  • Sufficient speech, hearing, and vision clarity to communicate effectively, discern instructions, and prepare/review written documents and digital records.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, reach, and lift/carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to block or redirect students and effectively supervise safety measures, including participating in physical restraint or seclusion procedures when necessary for safety.
  • Selected candidates must successfully pass a criminal justice fingerprinting and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and targeted rehabilitation therapy to assigned students based on individual IEP goals.
  • Deliver skill development training in behavior control, coping strategies, symptom management, social skills, communication, appropriate interpersonal behavior, adaptive learning skills, and activities of daily living.
  • Assist students in gaining and applying functional skills required for full participation in school and community environments.
  • Support and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in partnership with the Special Education team.
  • Teach and model positive social behaviors and support district Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiatives.
  • Assist in de-escalating student behaviors and facilitating smooth reintegration into the classroom environment.
  • Recommend and adjust intervention strategies in consultation with the Special Education team.
  • Maintain accurate, daily progress notes and track student data regarding behavioral performance and goal progression.
  • Conduct weekly informal reviews and participate in formal quarterly/trimester progress assessments.
  • Complete timely and compliant Medicaid billing documentation in accordance with district procedures.
  • Maintain absolute student confidentiality and adhere to Board policies, district procedures, and contractual requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
