About The Position

The Cattle Farmhand supports the daily care, feeding, and management of the cattle herd. The role is hands-on and helps keep animals healthy, facilities in good condition, and operations running smoothly.

Requirements

Prior experience working and being around livestock is preferred.
Ability to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting, and different hand movements.
Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and over gates.
Ability to climb in and out of livestock trailers that can be as short as 48 inches in height.
Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.

Nice To Haves

Class A CDL preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure health of cattle through daily observation, checking for wounds, ensuring proper eating and drinking habits, monitoring mobility, and identifying signs of sickness.
Maintain a clean environment by cleaning pens weekly, removing manure, and adding dirt for comfort.
Administer treatment protocols, which may include moving cattle needing treatment, administering antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and performing approved methods of euthanasia.
Administer vaccinations and report on treatments by completing treatment forms.
Complete daily paperwork, including animal treatment summaries, feed sheets, and commodities reports.
Assist with morning and afternoon cattle feedings, ensuring correct rations and feed times are followed.
Ensure truck loads are maximized with weights and rations.
Accurately mix feed.
Oversee the upkeep of feed bunks.
Maintain inventory of all commodities, medications, implants, and vaccines.
Perform general maintenance of company equipment, including greasing, oil changes, tire pressure checks, and tire replacement.
Operate heavy equipment such as Feed Trucks, Payloaders, Tractors, and Skid Loaders.
Coordinate and complete special projects as requested by management.
Maintain a positive attitude and positive relationships with co-workers, vendors, and clients.
Prioritize work tasks to ensure high-priority items are addressed first.
Perform duties in a safe manner and follow all safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
