About The Position

Acuren is currently seeking intermediate Cathodic Protection Technicians to support and expand our cathodic protection service offerings in Edmonton and Calgary area. This role is ideal for a independent professionals who excel in challenging environments. You will play a key role in strengthening existing client relationships while actively contributing to business growth in a rapidly developing market. We’re currently seeking motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors and staying active on the job. This role is ideal for people who thrive in a hands-on environment, don’t mind a lot of walking, and are comfortable working in remote locations. In this position, you’ll spend your days in the field supporting industrial projects while working as part of a safety-focused team. The work often involves long periods outdoors, navigating large job sites, and traveling to remote areas, so a strong work ethic and a positive attitude toward physically active work are essential.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience. Technical degree or diploma (or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • NACE CP1 and Rectifier Training required.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record with remote location navigation experience, including ATV/Sled utilization
  • Be available to travel for multiple days to remote locations (>70%)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective problem-solving skills
  • A strong team attitude with commitment to customer service
  • The ability to autonomously manage time and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting client / team expectations
  • Mechanically inclined with ability to adapt to changing work environments

Nice To Haves

  • NACE CP2/3/4 considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements and rectifier data
  • Perform continuity tests and soil resistivity measurements
  • Install, test, adjust and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and CP test points/stations
  • Locate pipelines and document positional pipeline information utilizing electro-magnetic and GPS equipment
  • Plan and perform annual cathodic protection surveys, ensuring system performance, regulatory compliance, and accurate technical reporting.
  • Generate field sketches or update existing drawings with rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other design features to be included for final drafting
  • Document physical features of installation site for subsequent detailed as-built drawings
  • Organize and optimize survey information collected to prepare reporting charts and tables
  • Prepare survey reports, including remedial recommendations, and final job reports (if necessary)
  • Understand and execute various data acquisition and assessment procedures that are specific to pipeline integrity programs
  • Conform to corporate, client, and government operating and safety procedures
  • Develop trusted relationships with existing and prospective clients, as well as internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and calibrate field equipment, ensuring proper operating condition and render minor repairs as needed
  • Actively participate in technical development; accept training and mentorship to maximize quality and performance
