About The Position

We are looking for a Cathodic Protection Engineer to play a key role in safeguarding ATCO’s natural gas transmission system. You will be responsible for the engineering design, technical analysis, and ongoing support of cathodic protection systems, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure pipeline integrity, regulatory compliance, and long‑term asset reliability. In this role, you’ll take on hands‑on technical challenges, make a meaningful impact, and contribute your expertise to infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Materials, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA is required.
  • Minimum 5 years in Cathodic Protection
  • Design at a CP2 level, with the goal to progress towards AMPP CP level 3 certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant CSA standards and applicable regulatory bodies as they pertain to Corrosion Management.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, decision making, organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an owner/operator or regulated utility environment is an asset.
  • AMPP CP Interference and AMPP CIP level 1 course completion is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and coordination of corrosion-related survey programs (i.e. ECDA, annual pipe-to-soil, annual rectifier inspection etc.) and prepare corrosion control recommendations.
  • Support technical oversight of EPCM contractor CP designs, including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of ATCO CP standards, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Support regulatory compliance, audits, and information requests related to CP systems.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Integrity, and Project teams to resolve CP-related issues on in-service assets.
  • Carry out cathodic protection (CP) design calculations and prepare engineering deliverables, including drawings, bill of materials, and scope of work, for both impressed current and galvanic systems.
