About The Position

Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Cardiovascular Services, the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and the Cath Lab Nurse Manager, the Cath Lab RN will perform duties necessary to care for patients, ages 18 years and up, undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional nursing level. The RN will provide pre, intra and post procedural care. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment and aids the Physician to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of heart and cardiovascular system (angiograms) during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures and assists with the implanting of pacemaker and internal defibrillator devices.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a state accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in State of NH.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's in Nursing preferred.
  • One year cardiovascular experience preferred.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 2 years from date of hire and renewed as required.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers data through history taking and physical assessment and interprets data in order to plan, implement and evaluate interventions to meet patient care needs.
  • Administers medications within scope of practice in State of NH.
  • Delivers pre and post procedural care to patients according to hospital policy.
  • Delivers intra procedural care in the role of circulator.
  • Delivers intra procedural care effectively and safely in the role of scrub.
  • Delivers intra procedural care in the role of monitor.
  • Bases nursing actions by applying principles of purposeful, organized thinking to make sound clinical judgment/decisions.
  • Teaches the patient and/or significant other(s) about the plan of care.
  • Prepares patients to manage their care after discharge.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for individual performance goals.
  • Assists with clinical training and competencies in adherence with lab protocols.
  • Involves self in departmental, team and committee goals.
  • Completes departmental and hospital requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
