About The Position

At Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, the Cath Lab Technologist II performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease in the cath lab. The technologist independently operates ancillary laboratory equipment, demonstrates scrubbing competencies for diagnostic and interventional procedures, follows radiation safety practices, and supports positive experiences for internal and external customers. The role also requires understanding diagnostic imaging workflows, patient positioning techniques, and how to capture clear results for timely, accurate diagnosis.

The position emphasizes accuracy and thoroughness, efficient use of time, customer service, reliability and follow-through, punctuality and availability, and sound judgment while working with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• One year of experience in interventional radiology.
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, upon hire, or Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months.

• Acute care hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease in the cath lab.
• Independently operate ancillary equipment, including IVUS, pressure wire, rotablator, IMPELLA, atherectomy devices, laser, and angiojet.
• Demonstrate scrubbing techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Use good radiation safety practices.
• Understand diagnostic imaging workflow and patient positioning techniques, and capture clear results for timely and accurate diagnosis.
• Complete work accurately and thoroughly, use time efficiently, follow through on assigned tasks, meet attendance standards, and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
• Deliver service consistent with organizational and departmental standards to internal and external customers.
