About The Position

The Cath Lab Tech (RCES) performs the duties of a cardiac technologist, specializing in invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, as well as electrophysiology procedures. This role involves using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring, and recording equipment to assess and treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. The technologist acts as a record keeper, monitoring, recording, and analyzing the patient's electrocardiogram (EKG) and intracardiac pressures. They assist the medical team with sterile procedures, operate X-ray and other laboratory equipment, run blood samples, and obtain sterile supplies. The position requires the ability to work with patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatrics. A key focus is on electrophysiology (EP) procedures, related protocols, and technological devices such as pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and biventricular pacemakers (BiV). The technologist is expected to ensure the highest quality of care for patients with rhythm disturbances, providing advanced care for cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders. They must possess expertise in understanding pharmacologic options for treatment, special protocols for conscious sedation patients, and a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-Ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care. Continuous self-education and staff updates regarding EP protocols are also required.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent experience.
Possesses an expertise in understanding pharmacologic options to treat patients.
Expert knowledge in electrophysiology and cardiovascular technology including pharmacology and advanced cardiac rhythm management.
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) registry through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required within 18 months of hire.
Possesses a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-Ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care.

Nice To Haves

Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI is preferred.
Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.

Works with all ages from newborn to geriatric patients.
Dedicated to electrophysiology (EP) procedures, related protocols, and related technological devices, i.e. pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICDs), biventricular pacemaker (BiV).
Ensures the highest quality of care to patients with rhythm disturbances providing advanced care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias including conduction disorders.
Understands any special protocols for conscious sedation patients.
Accountable for updating self and staff regarding EP protocols.
Works with growth and development needs of unique client populations including children to geriatrics.
