Requirements

  • Work requires extensive technical training; acquired through completion of an AMA approved two year program in Radiologic Technology, and six months related training in special procedures required.
  • Maintains X-ray license though CE credits.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in cardiology through appropriate technical journals or in-service and educational programs in order to enhance expertise.
  • Analytical skills for selecting proper test factors to produce optional radiographs.
  • Attention to detail is critical to avoid danger to patients.
  • Procedures must be carefully followed, being alert to the slightest danger of patient condition.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients/parents who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and to gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians.
  • Operates a computer and is capable of learning required software programs in accordance with departmental needs.
  • Ability to lift and position patients of up to 50 pounds for 20% of work time and to stand or walk for up to 50% of work time, wearing 10-15 pound lead apron.
  • Must have and maintain ARRT certification.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required.

Responsibilities

  • Administratively reporting to the Cath Lab Supervisor and under the medical direction of the cardiologist and established procedures, this position is responsible for assisting the cardiologists performing invasive cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology studies using ionizing radiation.
  • Performs sterile scrub duties for interventional cases.
  • Coordinates non-stock supply orders.
  • Responsible for coordination of parent teaching services and assures educational materials are available and current.
