Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Grapevine is preparing to open its doors in Winter 2027, and we are assembling an elite team of cardiovascular professionals who want more than a job—they want to help define the future of heart care in one of the nation’s fastest growing regions. As a new team member, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a new, state of the art heart hospital designed with one purpose in mind: delivering world class, patient entered cardiovascular care. In anticipation of our opening, select roles will begin as early as Summer 2026, allowing you to complete comprehensive orientation and training at our nationally recognized Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospitals. This immersive experience ensures you are fully prepared, aligned with our culture, and equipped with the highest standards of clinical excellence before the Grapevine campus opens.

Requirements

  • 2 years PCU, ICU, or ER experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) within (30) thirty days of hire
  • Graduated from an Accredited Program in Nursing
  • Knowledge and expertise of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Know laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying bodies; hospital and department standards, protocols, policies, and procedures for nursing care in the assigned area.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention and management.
  • Understanding of medications, common dosages, effects, and possible adverse reactions.
  • Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Social skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Using the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care.
  • Assessing the patient and identifying nursing diagnoses.
  • Developing and implementing an individualized care plan and evaluating the patient's response.
  • Promoting safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs.
  • Helping patients transition through healthcare without preventable complications or delays.
  • Delegating interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, considering each patient's condition and the employee's competencies.
  • Using clinical reasoning to conduct accurate assessments according to standards.
  • Identifying and prioritizing patient and family needs.
  • Modifying the care plan to meet outcomes.
  • Evaluating nursing practice quality and effectiveness, including nursing indicators.
  • Supporting evidence-based practice changes through research and learning.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Creating an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Managing emotional and physical pain to promote relief and healing and prevent unnecessary suffering.
  • Recognizing and appreciating a patient's and family's unique differences, incorporating culture, beliefs, gender, race, ethnicity, lifestyle, status, age, and values into a care plan.
  • Preserving and protecting the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families.
  • Representing patient and family concerns.
  • Creating an individualized plan that reflects patient and family values and goals.
  • Identifying and helping resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
  • Facilitating learning for patients, families, nursing staff, health care team, and community.
  • Integrating education throughout care to help them make informed health care recommendations, including health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Assessing and documenting learning needs and outcomes.
