About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role offers up to a $30,000 Sign-On Bonus for qualified candidates. The hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, working four ten-hour shifts per week, with required on-call duties. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse will float, monitor, scrub, and have the opportunity to work with a variety of procedures including diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, and loop recorder implants. Sentara Heart Hospital is a 112-bed facility recognized for its Cardiology services and Heart Surgery.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Virginia RN License or Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
  • All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • Registered Nurse with Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown or Recovery Room experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Float to different areas as needed.
  • Monitor patients.
  • Scrub during procedures.
  • Work with procedures such as diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, and loop recorder implants.
  • Take call as required.
