About The Position
Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiac Cath Lab. This role offers up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. The position involves working four ten-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with a requirement to take call. The Registered Nurse will provide competent nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN will possess clinical knowledge and skills specific to the Cardiac Cath Lab, floating, monitoring, and scrubbing for procedures such as diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, and loop recorder implants. Sentara Heart Hospital is a 112-bed facility recognized for its cardiology services and heart surgery.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Virginia RN License or Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
- BLS within 90 days of hire.
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
- Registered Nurse with Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown or Recovery Room experience will be considered.

Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Utilize standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Float to different areas as needed.
- Monitor patients.
- Scrub during procedures.
- Work with a variety of procedures including diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, and loop recorder implants.
