Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist
About The Position
The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in the Interventional Platform at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. This full-time position involves providing scrub support during diagnostic and interventional procedures, anticipating provider needs, and demonstrating competence in all roles within the Cath/EP or IR departments. The technologist will operate imaging and related equipment, serving as a radiation expert. Key responsibilities include clear communication and collaboration with the healthcare team regarding technical issues to ensure quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics, and oximetry. Patient safety and care within the scope of practice are paramount, with strict adherence to sterile technique during prepping, draping, assisting, and circulating. The role also involves utilizing safety tools, acting as a patient advocate, ensuring proper documentation, and identifying educational needs. Additionally, the technologist will serve as a resource to the team, providing inservices on technical skills, radiation safety, image quality, QA, and closure device techniques. Assisting with supply inventory and actively participating in site or system teams and educational offerings are also expected.
Requirements
- Current RT licensure in State of IL and current AART.
- BLS.
- ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- 2-year Associate Degree from Accredited School of Radiology.
- Intermediate computer skills
- Cathlab: Hemodynamic interpretation
- Imaging equipment proficiency
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Team player, flexible with assignments
- Sterile Technique Expert
- Cath: Scrub, Circulate, Record. IR: Scrub and Circulate. Process Images in PACS
- Basic Patient Assessment Skills
- Ability to perform lifting, pulling, pushing activities and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

- Ensures patient care is delivered in a safe manner and within scope of practice. Sterile technique followed with prepping, draping, assisting and circulating.
- Utilizes safety tools and tactics in all patient care interactions.
- Serves as patient advocate, ensures documentation, educational needs identified and plan of care agreed upon.
- Serves as resource to the team; provides inservices to team relating to technical skill enhancement, radiation safety, image quality, QA and closure device techniques.
- Assist with supply inventory, serves as technical expert and resource.
- Actively participates in site or system teams; attends site staff meetings and ongoing educational offerings as available.
