About The Position

Catering Server Starting at $16.25 hourly Available Schedule (Subject to Change): Must have flexible availability Part time / Weekdays and Weekends Vary / hours vary based on events happening within the community You will receive your schedule two weeks in advance Location: Royal Oaks Retirement Community 10015 W. Royal Oak Road Sun City, AZ 85351 Cross streets are 99th and Grand Avenue Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Catering Manager, responsibilities will include but are not limited to, setting up places at dining tables, taking orders, serving food, serving drinks and answering inquiries about the menu. Provides high quality, friendly service to residents and guests of Royal Oaks in the dining areas and at special functions.

Requirements

  • Has knowledge of Maricopa County food regulations and sanitation requirements.
  • Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
  • Has good communication skills.
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
  • Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Obtains a Maricopa County food handlers card within 30 days of employment.
  • Obtains a Certified Food Protection Manager certificate in compliance with Maricopa County guidelines within 90 days of employment.
  • Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
  • If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.
  • Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably has 2 years’ experience working in a formal dining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Answers questions about food and drinks including their ingredients, preparation and accompanying items.
  • Assist in the setup, execution and breakdown of the special event under the direction of the Catering Manager for all events. This includes but is not limited to, setting up buffet tables and decorations.
  • Ensures all catering items are cleaned, collected, and returned to the correct storage areas as indicated by the Catering Manager.
  • Serves private dining room guests when dinners are scheduled.
  • Attends shift meetings according to shift schedule.
  • Keeps the Food Service Management Team promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Communicate with Catering Manager and/or other Royal Oaks staff for work related purposes via call or text. A monthly cell phone stipend applies.
  • Attends to residents’ needs when delivering food and checks to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures all catering items are cleaned, collected, and returned to the correct storage areas as indicated by the catering coordinator.
  • Required to operate/drive a golf cart (including a multi-passenger golf cart) for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees, residents and/or guests when needed.
  • May also perform work as a Busser and/or Food Runner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
