About The Position

The Hotel at Arundel Preserve is the premier independent hotel in the BWI\Hanover market close to Columbia, Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington DC. As an upscale property with two unique full-service restaurants, an extensive fitness center, and indoor pool along with 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, it is perfect for both business travelers, leisure guests and groups. We also host high-end weddings and corporate events, and focus on delivering highly personalized service to all of our guests. The Catering Sales Manager role is pivotal in ensuring that every event and function is carried out seamlessly, creating memorable experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to upholding the highest standards of hospitality, consistently striving to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional service. This person solicits new catering customers through traditional and non-traditional sales techniques. Other important duties include booking, selling, planning, and coordinating all special social events while assuring the highest level of customer service.

Requirements

  • Previous Catering Sales experience required; preferably in a hospitality or food and beverage environment with meeting space exceeding 10,000 square feet.
  • Knowledge of hotel food and beverage operations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits / consistently meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Meet sales call quotas and actively prospect, solicit and qualify new business opportunities for the hotel.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all hotel facilities and nearby attractions.
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients
  • Negotiate food and beverage rates, guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines
  • Carefully review all contracted services to ensure profitability.
  • Foster and maintain close client relationships.
  • Works closely with other hotel departments and acts as liaison between client and operating departments to ensure a successful event and to generate repeat business
  • Ensure all catered functions are meticulously followed up prior to the event as per hotel standards.
  • Ensure proper collection of funds for the events, both directly with the client and with our accounting team
  • Obtain guarantee numbers, floor plans, entertainment, A/V, flowers, etc., from clients.
  • Provide set-ups, menus, and functions for groups.
  • Update and maintain all account files and documentation.
  • Establish and maintain close contact with top and target accounts through phone calls, tours, appointments, and correspondence.
  • Attend hotel meetings as it relates to the position – including BEO meeting, Accounting Meeting, Sales Meeting, Food and Beverage Meetings, etc.
  • Regularly attend industry meetings/networking events to obtain new business, and be aware of industry trends, etc.
  • Assist in the completion of the Annual Marketing Plan and budget
  • Submit weekly and monthly sales reports.
  • Maintain all sales files with current trace dates, accurate histories, and all relevant booking activity information for top and target accounts.
  • Acknowledge all guests and respond promptly to their needs, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Ensure unresolved incidents are reported to Manager/Supervisor
  • Availability during peak operating times, i.e.: Weekends, Holidays and Special Events
  • Work collaboratively with others to analyze and improve work processes
  • Lead by example, be a positive example for team in action and attitude
  • Contribute to team/company engagement efforts
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the hotel, including those in the employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
