About The Position

The Catering and Event Staff support the successful execution of events by providing food and beverage service, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and delivering excellent customer service to guests. This role may perform a variety of functions, including serving, bartending, and general event support, to ensure a high-quality and professional guest experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in catering, food service, hospitality, or events preferred
  • Must be at least 16 years old (18+ required to serve alcohol)
  • Ability to obtain required certifications, training provided by MDC
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask and follow directions effectively
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
  • Ability to operate or learn point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Professional, friendly, and team-oriented attitude
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds (trays, equipment, furniture)
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, and carrying
  • Ability to work extended shifts during events
  • Must be able to traverse property

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, décor, and equipment
  • Provide food and beverage service, including taking orders, serving meals, managing buffet lines, and delivering hors d’oeuvres
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with policies and legal requirements (as applicable)
  • Greet guests, respond to questions, and ensure a positive and professional customer experience
  • Monitor guest needs throughout events and address concerns or escalate as appropriate
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces, dining areas, and service stations during and after events
  • Clear tables, wash or reset service areas, and assist with post-event cleanup and facility reset
  • Process payments and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems as needed
  • Verify age requirements and follow responsible alcohol service practices when applicable
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with event leads and team members to ensure smooth event execution
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
