About The Position

This position is responsible for assembling, delivering, and staffing all catered events as directed. Responsible to effectively manage time and resources for successful service of these events. Also assists in cafeteria preparation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months to one year related experience and/or training.
  • If deemed a driver in your position, a valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.
  • Motor Vehicle Record checks will be performed upon hire, in addition to annually thereafter.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of various regulatory agency regulations; including JCAHO and PA. Department of Health.
  • Knowledge of diet modification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver food and supplies to events
  • Deliver food to catered events in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Transport supplies to areas and assemble food needs.
  • Be mindful of all safe food handling practices; using cambros, chillers, etc.
  • Service of catered events.
  • Be respectful and discreet with all guests.
  • Practice optimum customer service skills.
  • Anticipate, meet, or exceed customer expectations.
  • Always set up displays per established layout plans and standards.
  • Strive for attractiveness, appeal, and flow in all service set-ups.
  • Perform cleaning work tasks throughout the serviced areas and catering storage area.
  • Wash dishes.
  • Wipe counter areas, carts, and dishwashing machine.
  • Transport bins with dishes up and down steps while utilizing proper body mechanics.
  • Clean tables, counter areas, and kitchenette as necessary.
  • Obtain supplies for the next day.
  • Provide meal services to Windber Research Institute.
  • Daily set up food items at established time.
  • Monitor cash box and complete usage report.
  • Make sure all necessary condiments are available.
  • Assist as assigned in the cafeteria.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Assist with preparation of grab and go items.
  • Assist in patient meal necessities.
  • Assist with meal services as assigned.
  • Assist with minor preparatory work when requested.
  • Bag patient silverware and place napkins and tray covers on trays.
  • Deliver late trays when needed.
  • Prepare and serve meals at Board of Director dinners.
  • Provide assistance to others when required by high census.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Follow standard precaution guidelines.
