About The Position
Farmers Depot is seeking a Category Specialist to support the growth and performance of key product categories. Reporting to the Category Manager, this role plays a hands-on part in pricing analysis, marketing execution, vendor coordination, and sales enablement. Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in category support, marketing, sales support, procurement, product management, or a related role
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Analytical mindset with a desire to develop strategic capabilities
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Nice To Haves
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, procurement, agriculture, or a related field (preferred)
- Agricultural, farming, or animal health background is an asset
Responsibilities
- Category & Pricing Support
- Monitor competitor pricing and market activity
- Prepare pricing and margin analysis to inform category decisions
- Support development of retail, dealer, promotional, and volume pricing
- Assist with sales forecasting for new products (6–12 month outlooks)
- Support SKU rationalization and regulatory compliance initiative
- Marketing Execution & Product Content
- Partner with the GVF marketing team to execute product campaigns across flyers, website, email, social, digital ads, catalogues, and retail locations
- Support new product launches with accurate and timely marketing materials
- Maintain customer-facing product information (descriptions, images, documentation)
- Contribute to bi-annual catalogue production and vendor coordination
- Vendor & Internal Coordination
- Work with vendors to secure promotional support and funding
- Participate in vendor planning meetings
- Communicate product updates and changes internally
- Support equipment installation coordination when required
