About The Position

Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Category Sales Specialist to support its Waterworks business group in the Virginia Waterworks District. The ideal candidate should be within easy commuting distance of locations in Southern Virginia. Requirements

  • 2+ years of Waterworks industry experience or tool/safety product knowledge is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency including use of Microsoft applications and navigating multiple software systems, required.
  • Ability to build PowerPoint presentations and coordinate, facilitate, and lead in-person and remote training sessions, needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • High level attention to detail, including ability to maintain changing pricing information and product specs.
  • Autonomous with strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Hard-working, courteous, and articulate.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain consultative sales relationships with new and existing clients, including business development initiatives, providing product suggestions and expertise, and collaborating with clients and internal partners at all levels to promote Ferguson products.
  • Hold training events, both large group and one on one. Training is a combination of product knowledge, selling skills and understanding of pertinent reports and scorecards.
  • Partner with outside sales teams to provide technical product knowledge, including specs, capacities, and pricing information directly to clients.
  • Implement category initiatives to improve market share within diverse business markets.
  • Act as technical subject matter specialist for products.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relations.
  • Collaborate with operations team to help maintain and control inventory levels.
  • Continually improve sales skills and product knowledge.
