About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Category Management, the Category Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies to drive sales and profit growth for categories critical to achieving Rexall's annual financial and merchandising objectives. This role involves achieving budgeted P&L results for specific categories and their contribution to the total Front Store P&L. The Category Manager will manage the P&L of a category portfolio with annual sales of approximately $20-70+ million and will supervise 1-3 Category Specialists.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Category Manager managing a relevant product category, OR 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Category Manager or Buyer with demonstrated progressive expansion of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review category budgets and report on remedial actions needed to achieve budget.
  • Lead category sales profitability, costs, and pricing with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Partner with vendors for marketing, loyalty, and promotions investments.
  • Negotiate co-op rates and supervise revenues and expenses against budget.
  • Negotiate annual trade agreements with vendors to improve Rexall revenue streams.
  • Present category portfolio performance, opportunities, and strategies at sales meetings.
  • Develop and supervise category strategies for product mix, pricing, promotions, and corporate brands.
  • Analyze Nielsen and Homescan data to measure category trends and Rexall's market performance.
  • Determine and maintain efficient product mix for Planograms, including core listings, delists, and private brand penetration.
  • Generate and supervise micro strategy data.
  • Facilitate new product listings and communicate product changes.
  • Establish pricing tactics and monitor implementation.
  • Schedule and contribute to vendor business reviews.
  • Generate revenues for co-op advertising, loyalty programs, and other initiatives.
  • Proactively lead shrink and outdates with Operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare and deliver special presentations.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Brands team to define Private Label strategy, identify new products, assist with negotiations and costing, provide feedback on listings/delistings, define Private Label pricing, and develop/execute Private Label promotional plans.
  • Manage promotional flyers, in-store programs, and special event programs.
  • Lead editing of promotional flyers.
  • Negotiate vendor participation in Rexall global promotional events.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional areas (Merchandising Operations, Promo & Pricing, Private Brands, Finance, Operations, Marketing) to execute category plans.
  • Negotiate vendor participation in corporate events.
  • Coordinate store communications regarding functional issues, including planogram changes.
  • Respond to partner inquiries and address issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
