Category Development Specialist
About The Position
Seeking a Category Development Specialist to join Diageo’s Category Development team. This role will be responsible for supporting the advisor team to ensure our customer’s category and shelf management strategies are executed – including category assessment, consumer insights, performance evaluation, assortment optimization, planogram recommendations, etc. through a fact-based approach. The candidate will develop a solid understanding of the business, products, markets, and the needs of customers; being recognized as a shelf management expert in the Spirits category. Complexity is high (very SKU intensive category) and flexibility is critical in a dynamic fast-paced environment. The role requires a significant level of collaboration and the ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience required in Category Management Space Planning, preferable in CPG or Adult Beverage Categories.
- Strong technical capabilities with experience in software systems relevant to the Category Management function including space planning software (JDA and/or Shelf IQ) and syndicated data sources.
- Advanced computer skills; proficient in Excel and Powerpoint.
- Ability to connect insight to actionable store execution.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills are essential.
- Must have ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strong working relationships with retailer merchant teams and cross-functional partners to support objectives, goals and outcomes.
- Execute shelf recommendations to increase efficiency, conversion, improve shopability, and optimize space to sales leveraging JDA and Shelf IQ technology.
- Support regular reporting to highlight performance gaps and growth opportunities.
- Utilize various data sources including syndicated data and retailer POS.
- Assume ownership of assigned tools, processes, and tasks.
