About The Position

Terrestrial Energy is seeking a Category Buyer – Nuclear Services to join their team. This role reports directly to the Procurement Manager and is primarily responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities in support of the Company’s nuclear projects. The position involves issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining supplier documentation, while also supporting procurement process discipline and regulatory compliance. The company is a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors, specifically their Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant, and is undergoing a significant growth phase following a merger and public listing.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying, including experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements such as NRC and CNSC, including 10 CFR.
  • Familiarity with export control requirements.
  • Experience issuing and tracking purchase orders and working with suppliers.
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., Oracle SCM, SAP Ariba, or Coupa).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within North America as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • Must be able to access and use information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, which mandate all citizenships (including dual citizenships) be from the U.S. Department of Energy’s List of Generally Authorized Countries (10 CFR Part 810 Appendix A) unless a specific authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy is obtained or unless you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident, or protected individual under the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) or advanced reactor programs.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a multi-site or global procurement organization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day purchasing activities in support of the Company’s nuclear projects.
  • Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and maintain supplier documentation.
  • Support procurement process discipline and regulatory compliance under the direction of the Procurement Manager.
  • Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with approved requisitions, pricing, and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and documentation, and follow up to resolve delays or discrepancies.
  • Support compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements (including NRC and CNSC), export control regulations, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations, in day-to-day purchasing activities.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and purchase order documentation in the Company’s procurement and ERP systems.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Project teams to confirm specifications, delivery timelines, and any special handling or documentation requirements.
  • Assist with collecting supplier documentation and information in support of the Company’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL) process.
