About The Position

The Category Assistant position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and continuously evolving environment, providing critical support to members of the Harbor Category Management team. This team member must have the ability to independently prioritize workload, multitask and meet strict deadlines while managing interruptions.

Requirements

  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills including filtering, basic formulas and report navigation required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication for internal teams and vendor-facing materials.
  • MS Office at an intermediate level; superior office and communication skills.
  • Stable work history.

Nice To Haves

  • More advanced skills including pivot table creation, lookups, and compiling multi-source reports a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the convenience distribution industry and prior experience in a wholesale, retail, or supplier environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Present reporting & synthesizing data for the Category Management team to assist in SKU maintenance and rationalization.
  • Follow through actions necessary to clear aged inventory and move out unproductive sku’s.
  • Consolidate files for vendor meetings and negotiations.
  • Reporting requests may include but are not limited to fill rate, purchase history, current marketing use ledgers, aged inventory listings, outstanding rebates and aged receivable ledgers.
  • Spearheading maintenance of “Blanket Orders” -extended lead time orders for items which fall outside of normal stock status-. Requires the review of aged order reports and cross departmental collaboration with category management, buyers and customer service to fulfill or clear orders.
  • Collaborate with Category Management to ensure program compliance orders are maintained and corresponding objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinating donation requests for retail community and Harbor Cares events.
  • Updating marketing use ledgers in collaboration with Promotional Analyst.
  • Process contract orders for proprietary programs as field orders are submitted and prepare Program order upload files for customer service.
  • Assisting in follow-through and processing of product recalls.
  • Assisting with vendor coordination and administrative support for Harbor events.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by department management.
